Accessible transport

Te Pahi supports accessible travel for all. Discover wheelchair-friendly buses, service dog guidance and Total Mobility services to ensure your bus journey across Taranaki is safe, comfortable and stress-free.

Wheelchairs

All our New Plymouth urban buses are accessible to wheelchair users. We have one accessible bus on the 101 Hāwera - New Plymouth service.

There are some wheelchair restrictions to consider:

  • There are no restraints on the bus, so wheelchair brakes must be on at all times while travelling.
  • Your wheelchair must not take up a space of more than 700mm wide and 1200mm long or have a chair/passenger combined weight of more than 240kg.
  • All passengers should be able to board a bus and pay the bus fare unaided. If you require assistance, please travel with a support person.
  • Please note that for space reasons, our buses are unable to carry large mobility scooters.

Service dogs

All of our bus services welcome passengers accompanied by service dogs or disability assist dogs.

We're looking at ways to make our buses more accessible to everyone in our community. This mahi is continuing and we will update this page when new accessibility improvements become available.
