Our website is designed to make planning your journey simple, with tools to help you get from A to B across the Te Pahi network.

This page brings together everything you need to get started, with links, tips and step-by-step guides to help you use each feature with confidence.

Journey Planner

Use the Journey Planner to find the best bus routes for your trip.

On desktop and mobile

  1. Enter your starting point in the Start box (this can be a place, address or bus stop)
    • You can also select Current location if location services are enabled on your device
  2. Enter your destination in the End box
  3. Select Find bus routes to view your journey options
  4. You can also plan your trip by selecting points on the map:
    • Choose your starting stop directly from the interactive map
    • Then select your destination stop to see available journey options

Please note: Journey Planner results do not include school services. Visit the timetables page for school bus informationopen_in_new.

Add Te Pahi to your homescreen

For quick and easy access, you can add Te Pahi straight to your mobile device’s home screen.

Our website is optimised for mobile, so it works just like an app on your phone. Follow the steps below to get set up. Instructions may vary slightly depending on your device.

On Android

  1. Open www.tepahi.govt.nz in your web browser
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner
  3. Select ‘Add to home screen’
  4. Tap ‘Install’ when prompted 

Once installed, Te Pahi will appear on your home screen like an app.

On iPhone

  1. Open www.tepahi.govt.nz in your web browser
  2. Tap the ‘Share’ button (square with an arrow)
  3. Scroll down and select ‘Add to Home Screen’
  4. Tap Add to confirm

Te Pahi will now appear on your home screen for easy access.

Live tracking

Track your bus in real time and see how your journey is progressing.

On desktop and mobile

You can access live tracking from the timetable page after selecting a specific route.

  • Select Live tracking (the second option at the top of the page)
  • View where buses are currently located along the route
  • See scheduled times and whether services are running on time

You can also select individual trips to get up-to-date arrival information for your stop.

Timetables

Find a bus timetable

On desktop and mobile You can find all timetables in two ways:

  • From the homepage, select the Timetables button
  • From the menu (hamburger menu on mobile), go to Plan your bus trip and select Timetables

Search for a specific timetable

  • Enter your bus route name or number
  • Select View bus timetable

Or, select View all bus timetables to browse all services, including:

  • New Plymouth urban
  • Regional
  • School services

Use the buttons at the top of the page to switch between these options.

Choosing the right timetable

  • For New Plymouth urban and regional services, you can select either a weekday or Saturday timetable
  • For regional Saturday services, select the calendar icon (labelled Today’s timetable) and choose the Saturday you want

Change your travel direction

Check the route description at the top of the timetable to make sure it matches the direction you want to travel.

If it’s not quite right, select Switch direction to view the timetable for the opposite route.

School bus timetables

  • Select School buses to view a list of schools across Taranaki serviced by Te Pahi
  • Choose your school to see available bus options

Live Departures

Get stop specific information

On desktop and mobile

1. There are three ways to view live departures for your bus stop: 

  • From the homepage
  • Select Live departures
  • Enter your bus stop name or number

2. Select View departures to see upcoming trips and routes 

  • From the homepage Select Find bus stop on map
  • Zoom in and choose your bus stop on the interactive map
  • View upcoming trips and routes for that stop

3. From the menu 

  • Open the navigation menu (hamburger menu on mobile)
  • Go to Plan your bus trip
  • Select Live departures

Alerts

Stay up to date with what’s happening on your service.

On desktop and mobile

Alerts appear across the site to keep you informed. Look out for coloured banners:

  • Orange – Service updates (e.g. detours or delays)
  • Blue – General information
  • Red – Severe disruptions (e.g. cancellations), shown across all pages

View alerts

You can find alerts in two ways:

  • From the homepage, select Alerts under Helpful links
  • From the menu (hamburger menu on mobile), go to Plan your bus trip and select Alerts

Filter and plan ahead

  • View live alerts for the current day
  • Select Upcoming to see alerts for the next 7 days
  • Filter alerts by:
    • New Plymouth buses
    • Regional buses
    • School buses

Alerts will also appear on the timetable page for your selected route if there is a current or upcoming disruption.

Route information

Find everything you need to know about your bus route in one place.

On desktop and mobile

You can access route information from the timetable page after selecting a specific route.

  • Select Route info (the third option at the top of the page)
  • View fare information for your journey
  • See important updates or notes about the route (such as timetable changes or special services)
  • Discover highlights along the route, including key destinations and tourist spots

Favourites

Save your most-used stops, routes or destinations to find them faster next time.

On desktop and mobile

You can access Favourites in two ways:

  • From the menu, go to Plan your bus trip and select Favourites
  • From the homepage under Helpful links

Here, you can view, add and remove your saved favourites.

Create a favourite

  • Look for the star icon next to a route, stop or destination
  • Select it to add the item to your favourites (the star will turn green)

Your favourites will appear the next time you visit Te Pahi, making them quick and easy to access.

Use favourites to filter alerts

Once you’ve saved your favourites, you can filter alerts to only see updates relevant to the routes and stops you use most.
